Common Questions

FAQ.

I am new to Pilates. Will I be able to do it?

Yes, because I will tailor each of my sessions to your personal ability, allowing you to grow at your own speed. At the beginning of each experience I would like to schedule a complimentary 30 minute consultation; during this consultation we will identify your goals and any concerns and develop an action plan for you, and you will be able to begin with confidence.

How do online sessions work?

Online sessions are 60 minutes. The first 10 minutes will be a quick "check-in" to see how you're feeling today, followed by 50 minutes of training and ending with a couple of minutes of cool down to finish off the session. We will use Google Meet for the meeting. I'll provide you with the link prior to our meeting and I will observe your form from the other side of the computer screen. Your device should have a camera and microphone (a laptop or phone) placed so I can view your entire body as you perform the exercises.

What equipment will I need?

A device with a camera and microphone (either a laptop or phone), and a mat. These items are necessary to begin with. As you become more advanced you may consider purchasing some additional items such as a small Pilates ball, a ring, or long resistance bands – but these come later.

If I need to cancel or reschedule a session, how do I do it?

Life happens, please just notify me 24 hours prior to your scheduled time and we can find a different time that works for both of us. There are no fees, and no stress.

I have back pain/injury. Can I do Pilates?

Yes. In fact, Pilates is often recommended as part of the recovery process for people who have been injured. Please inform me of your specific condition(s) and I will make sure that every exercise is modified to accommodate your limitations. These sessions are designed to help people move safely and with comfort, regardless of their physical limitations.

When I hear "personalized training," what does that really mean?

Each partnership begins with a consultation between us to determine your goals, and any limitations you may have. I then develop a customized training program based on your goals, and limitations. I also document everything we work on, including what exercises we complete, what challenges you had and what you accomplished. All of this information is tracked and used to develop future sessions. You also have access to the documentation I keep on you, and it's updated after each training session. Additionally, I will photograph your posture progress, so we can monitor changes over time. A personalized approach eliminates guesswork – which results in actual results.
